(a PBS member) to design supporting curriculum for the interactive graphic novel “The Poisoner’s Handbook” a digital teaching tool based on the New York Times bestseller by Deborah Blume.
Created four simulation experiments and teaching materials to support an interactive graphic novel. The experiments mimic forensic science tests used in the early
20th century to detect poisoning.
2013
Awarded a $100,000 grant for lab supplies and equipment and to establish partnerships with industry leaders and workforce developers to recruit and place Biotechnology and Forensic Science students in internships and full-time positions.

Honored as Outstanding Educator as part of Biomedical Research Day. This annual award honors contributors who “dedicate their talents and careers to deeper understanding of living systems and the development of medicines and devices to prevent, treat and cure diseases.” Four contributors are honored each year: Past recipients include Noble Laureate researchers, state senators, Industry leaders and outstanding educators.

Worked on expanding forensics-based coursework into curriculum units that can be adapted for children in grades kindergarten through 12. Drawing on the popular reference, he calls his public-outreach project “CSI for Kids: Forensic Science.”
